Gear notes:

3 new items for this trip turned out to be money well spent:

Kammok ultralight tarp - Feather light, packs small and is easy to rig. I've used as both a sun and rain shelter.  Beats hunkering down in a tent to escape the elements.

Nylon cord - Cheap from REI. Really good for ridge line for tarp.

REI rain jacket - Another lightweight item that packs small.  Haven't tried it in a rainstorm but kept me warm and dry in a cold drizzle.

Mosko 20L "Scout" bag - I use this as a tail bag on the bike.  Builtin straps to convert it to a shoulder bag or backpack.  I thought these were silly until I used the bag the last couple days walking between the campground and Stewart.
