Stewart - Hyder port area

Some notes will appear in Commentary.

Looking south into Portland Canal.  U.S.A. is on the right,
Canada is on the left.
North toward Stewart and the Bear River that empties into
the fjord. On the right is a small boat launch ramp.  In the
center is a floating dock.

First clue that this is tide water... the brown stuff on the rocks
is seaweed.  This is more or less at low tide so normal high
tide would be at the top of the brown band or about 4 or 5 feet.

Closer look at the floating dock.  It rides up and
down on the pilings.  You can see the metal loops
that hold it against the pilings.  There are marks 10
or 12 feet up the pilings from very high tides.

The long ramp in the distance is in the Stewart harbor. I believe
it has a conveyor belt that is used to load ore onto ships.  Not
really visible in this picture are a lot of logs floating farther up
waiting to be loaded onto ships.  The muck in the middle distance
is a muddy flat that is uncovered at low tide.
